I still remember the long, quiet summer break of 2011. While listening to a podcast commemorating Liszt, I stumbled upon his La Campanella. In that moment, classical music was no longer just background noise; it struck me deeply. For the first time in my life, I felt a magical connection, as if I had recognized an unseen old friend in the melody.

Though I later went on to university and spent years working amidst the noise of business and code, the itch to create something always lingered. Since I had missed the window to become a musician, where else could I place this longing?

The answer appeared before a traditional bronze bust of Mozart. It was exquisitely crafted, yet cold and overly serious. It suddenly hit me: wood and music are profoundly alike. The same sheet of music carries different emotions depending on who plays it; the same species of wood yields a unique breath and texture in every block. The burls and grain lines—aren't they just like a musician's unique phrasing of a melody?

So, I began to "play" with wood. My first subject was Mozart. I didn't want to make him a lofty, untouchable figure, like those bronzes we used to have. I used the warm, gentle White Maple, paired with a bright coat of natural Crimson Padauk, wanting to bring back that vivid, cheerful young genius holding a quill.

When I posted a photo of this piece, full of the warmth of handcraft, the deep resonance it found with strangers online completely convinced me: in an era filled with mass production, there are still many people who, like me, crave that authentic, human touch. Through this connection, I felt that unique, mutual appreciation shared among classical music lovers. The shared emotion over a specific rest in a symphony, the stubborn obsession with a fragment of musical history—no words are needed. One glance, and kindred spirits simply know.
